If your website was built using a Beaver Builder template from Starter Templates, there’s nothing to worry about. Your existing site will continue to work perfectly with Beaver Builder and Astra as it is.

We’ve recently removed Beaver Builder templates from the Starter Templates plugin, which only means that new users building a fresh site won’t see Beaver Builder templates listed anymore. But this change does not affect any sites already built with those templates.

So you’re all good to go — no impact on your current setup!

I have an astra theme but I use beaver builder for most of my posts and pages. How can I tell if one has a beaver builder theme by Astra?

Hi Colin,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts — we truly appreciate you taking the time.

We completely understand the frustration, especially when you’ve built so many sites using our Beaver Builder templates. Just to clarify, we made the decision based on our internal data, which showed significantly lower usage of Beaver Builder templates compared to others. Beaver Builder is a solid builder — no doubt about that — but we had to prioritize our efforts where the demand was higher.

That said, it’s great to hear the filter helped you continue using the Beaver Builder templates. Thanks again for your feedback.

I just tried to add this to my website. I am using Elementor with Astra. I followed your instructions to set up the colour switcher but it doesn’t show up in my header. I checked that elementor is using the global website colours which it is, so I don’t know what is wrong. Can you advise?

I don’t want to use Elementor as I have found it unreliable and inconsistent. We use Beaver builder as it is rock solid, we can offer a quality website that will always look good and work as expected. We are not looking for the latest trends or unwanted bells and whistles, stability is the not important thing.

We, currently, have over 40 sites that all started as Astra templates, we have never needed support on templates, just on the ultimate add-ons plugin from time to time. The thing is once a template is set the plugin can be removed (the sensible thing to do) so how can you tell Beaver Builder users are not using it?

One last thing regarding your filter, great idea I hope it remains a part of starter templates forever, but some instructions on where to add it would be good.

No, you don’t have to replace your Beaver Builder sites. Astra will continue to support Beaver Builder, so there’s no requirement to switch to Elementor or Spectra. However, we will no longer offer templates or pre-built sites for Beaver Builder.

Is there a plan to help people migrate without having to rebuild sites?

Hello John

I completely understand how important the Beaver Builder Starter Templates were to your workflow, and I want to clarify that we did keep Beaver Builder support ongoing for quite some time, but after careful evaluation, we had to make the tough decision to sunset it. However, we haven’t completely removed it. You can still access the legacy Beaver Builder Starter Templates using the following filter:
add_filter( 'astra_sites_enable_legacy_beaver_builder_support', '__return_true' );

Adding this to your site will bring back the legacy templates, allowing you to continue with the same ecosystem you have now. Cheers!
